Low Back
Watch this video to learn important basics for successful lower back taping application. Whether you're seeking pain relief, support, or recovery after injury, proper taping technique can make all the difference.
Pain in the low back, or lumbago, can be a very complicated problem. As the body ages, the spine undergoes compensatory changes to adjust with the rest of the body. Some of those changes are for the good, but some of those changes can cause pain and problems in human function. Learning how to tape lower back using kinesiology tape can provide effective support and stabilization.
Low back pain is often aggravated by prolonged sitting or standing as well as activities where we use the body as a lever – like vacuuming. The pain is often the result of mechanical conditions such as disk disease, fractures, or other breakdowns of the spinal structure. Rarely do issues involving inflammation or sciatic nerve cause low back pain, but research suggests that misalignments of the spine or hips could also contribute to bilateral low back pain. Athletes and individuals with SI joint pain may also experience similar symptoms.
Pain is generally felt near the top of the pelvis and in the center of the low back on the lower spine and typically stems from a combination of overuse, muscle strain, and injury or damage to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support the spine. Using KT Taping for lower back pain can offer gentle yet effective support, especially in combination with special back pain exercises.
