KT Tape sponsors the USA Water Polo Team including the USA Junior National Men and Womens Water Polo Teams, and they have been doing great lately!
Recently the USA Junior Men participated in a training tournament in Italy while the USA Junior Women were in tournament in California. Both teams played amazingly. See the press releases below.
Acireale, Italy - July 25 - The USA Junior Men's National Team rolled Germany 8-1 to close out play in their training tournament in Italy. Bret Bonanni (Huntington Beach, CA/Regency) and Russell Renteria (El Toro, CA/SET) each had two scores and Garrett Danner (Lake Forest, CA/SET) did the job in net stopping 12 shots. The victory caps a big week that saw the United States defeat Montenegro, Hungary, Australia, and France. ??Team USA jumped all over Germany and never looked back posting a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and a 6-0 ledger at halftime. Germany posted the lone goal of the third quarter but by then the match was in hand. The United States added on two more scores in the fourth to finish things off with the 8-1 win. ??Despite all the scoring the United States went 0/6 on power plays while Germany was 1/9. "Today's win against Germany was the exclamation point on a solid streak of wins for this newly founded team. Once again the defensive effort was the key to our success starting with our goal keeping and field blocking," said USA Head Coach Ryan Brown.
Los Alamitos, CA - July 25 - The USA Junior Women's National Team completed a week of perfection as they defeated Canada 7-5 and Australia 7-5 to close out the action and claim first place in the four nations tournament. Seven different scorers paced the USA attack in the win over Australia while Ashley Grossman (Santa Monica, CA/LA Water Polo) and Colleen O'Donnell (Palos Verdes, CA/LA Water Polo led the way with two goals each in the win over Canada. ??The win over Canada featured a slow offensive start as the United States led 1-0 after the first quarter and just 2-1 at the end of the first half. In the third quarter Canada exploded with four goals to grab a 5-3 lead going to the fourth. The United States rallied with four goals of their own in the final quarter to claim the victory at 7-5.??Team USA went 1-2 on power plays while Canada went 2-5. Kate Baldoni (Newport Beach, CA/Stanford) did the job in net stopping seven shots.
Great job to both teams!
